Internet security should be a serious concern for anyone who uses the Internet. Whether you are a beginning, experienced, or expert user, the Internet presents you with risks and challenges that you cannot underestimate. Every time you engage in a commercial transaction on the Web, send sensitive information through e-mail, or even simply browse a site, you are in danger of revealing private information about yourself to individuals or groups that can potentially use, modify, sell or otherwise use it for malicious purposes. The necessity of reliable and fast data interchange is the reason for the Internet’s existence, but if you cannot preserve the confidentiality and integrity of your data then the Net can potentially cause you much more harm than good.

The Journal of Internet Security (JISec) was created to address the issues of Internet security, including data confidentiality and integrity. This site, through the contribution of many experts in the field, offers solutions not only for the Internet security problems of new users and casual browsers, but also provides strategies for more advanced users to protect themselves online by enhancing security.

However, you will find this Journal is more intensive and rigorous than other journals discussing Internet security. Every month, experts like Marcus Ranum and Mich Kabay contribute with insightful articles, written not to pick over past threats to Internet security and their solutions, but rather to focus on the present and possible future dangers to your Internet security. JISec also will discuss how you can protect Internet connections and personal information with tools readily available today.

Needless to say, this Journal is full of straightforward articles and useful tips, from how to monitor and control user identification and authentication, to authorization mechanisms, access and integrity safeguards, intrusion detection, and other Internet security and security tools. If you are still undecided about whether or not this Journal is for you, I strongly recommend you check the Table of Contents, which should adequately convince you of its value. Otherwise, let’s get started, read on.
